How many times a day do we say, “I’ll pray for you”? We may stop and pray over someone’s situation or maybe we pray for their healing. And rightfully so because Paul told the Thessalonians to “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” But do we really believe it will change anything? Do we really expect that our fervent prayers are going to cure someone’s cancer? If you believe Jesus’ words, then YES!

In Matt 21:20-22, the disciples were amazed when the fig tree withered after Jesus hurled a curse at it. “Jesus replied, ‘Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go throw yourself into the sea’ and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” Take note of some caveats in Jesus’ words. He says you will receive whatever you ask for, but on what conditions? If you have faith and if you do not doubt. So, I ask you again, do you believe God will grant you healing? Proverbs 18:21 tells us “The tongue has the power of life and death” so we should believe our prayers change things.

No, scratch that. We must believe that our petitions to the great almighty God, the great physician, will change things. We have the authority from Jesus Christ to drive out impure spirits and to heal every disease and sickness (Matt 10:1). Jesus says in Matt 10:7 to “proclaim this message, ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive put demons. Freely you have received; freely give.” We have been baptized not only with water, but also with the Holy Spirit. Jesus’ power is within you just waiting for you to say the words and believe it. Speak life over the sick. With authority. With power. You better believe it!
